Excitement Cut Short By Finger

You might notice that this post looks different than my last one. That's because I had to telephone it in and have someone write it for me. I wanted to type it myself, but couldn't. I had a pretty sore left ring finger during the first day of practice. It was kind of on the inside edge, like a little black sore. I went through the whole morning practice with it, but then I hit my hand against Chris McAlister's helmet. I almost started crying. I ended up finishing practice, but when I took my glove off, it was completely swollen. That little black spot moved all the way to the top of my fingernail. It hurt so bad that they brought the doctor in. He said they were going to have to do something about it before it spread down my entire hand. We tried to poke it to get it to drain, but they came back and ended up cutting half of my fingernail off and then cutting back into my finger to get it to drain. They numbed my whole hand and did it right there at training camp. I like practicing so I'll be out there tomorrow morning. I know that we can meet our expectation level this year. I felt outstanding and everyone looked great. It felt like we hadn't stepped off the field since last year. It was sweet.

  Holy crap, that's the damnest thing. So sorry to hear about your finger. U are one tough dude. Where did the sore come from in the first place? From someone who has lost both big toe toenails in the past (not at the same time, thank God), I can imagine the pain, even if they did numb it! Did the draining ease the pain where it allows you to practice? My hats off to you for getting back out there tomorrow. Good luck! Thanks for taking the time to blog and keeping us informed. Looking forward to your next one. Pre-season is only a few weeks away, so we don't have much longer to wait to finally see you and the Ravens!

  Sick! I was always fascinated by the "on the field" medical attention players in professional sports receive...like all those locker room cortisone shots and stitches on the bench in Hockey. Mark, have you seen any crazy stuff? Good luck in camp.

  Steve McNair is rubbing off on you guys. I once saw McNair get split in half by a laser, as the laser came closer, he used it to burn through the ropes that had bound his wrists. When the ropes let loose, he jumped off of the table and shot the maniacal super villian between the eyes. He used the villian's arc welder and welded himself back together. Just four hours later, he threw for 4 TDs.

  Yo Mark unrelated question for u to help a bruh out with, I figure ur the person to ask seeing how you moved from OK. Aight so I moved to Owings Mills from Philly and eythang and i like it alot here, its all straight, nightlife gets off, weather's cool, yanno, its all pretty much nice 24/7. The one thing i cannot get use to is THE FOOD!!!!! Man I dunno whatsup but I cant find NOTHIN that don't taste like assssssssss! I even hit up that Towsontown center, nothin man. So Mark, u seem like you adjusted here and dat so can u hook me up with the spot or two where i can get summin cheesteak quality GOOD FOOD!!?? Lastly good luck Im an Iggles fan thru and thru but you can ball, so keep doin u and God Bless. Uno!

  Mark, from someone who was there both days, one would never know your finger was that bad. How you hung onto thsoe passes Coach Johnson was humming at you guys is amazing!

  wow u are like my hero... way to stay strong! U really do rock , i saw u at the second day of training camp and u like never messed up! I was the only one i a jersey for you that i saw and i was thinking whats up with these people, i mean any ravens fan i get along with cuz i am just majorly in love with football but seriously dude, y don't they have ur jersey? i bet they do but they just decided to wear their other one, or i hope that's the story or somethig is wrong with ravens fans lol... i know how strong u are cuz i play madden alot and when u get hurt you get right up or come back in two minutes! only once you didn't come back but you were smashed by ray lewis !(i was playing ravens vs. ravens) Anyways I am very ecstatic that ur ok cuz i really do love u lol... god bless you!

The first preseason game is getting ready to come on and I hope you go for about 4 catches for 125 yards in the whole 3 minutes you play. Your an awsome dude, my kids absolutely love you, and I hope one day I get a chance to hang with you so I can smoke you at Madden!!!LOL
