The Match IX golf: Best bets for tonight's skins event 

Capital One's The Match is back for its ninth edition Monday night at 6:30 p.m. ET, and it will feature LPGA players for the first time. The event will be an individual 12-hole skins match between Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, Lexi Thompson and Rose Zhang. It will take place at The Park Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Fla. 

Since there are betting odds available for the televised event, you know we have to get some action down on The Match IX. 

Rose Zhang to win (+350 FanDuel)

Rose Zhang's odds to win The Match IX vary at different sportsbooks, but she's the biggest underdog of the group at FanDuel. We'll gladly take a shot on the LPGA star at a big price. 

Zhang is a tremendous ball striker who ranked 26th on the LPGA in driving accuracy and sixth in greens in regulation percentage last season. She ranked above Thompson in scoring average, rounds in the 60s, birdies per round and putts per GIR as a rookie. 

Zhang can rack up birdies in a hurry, which is the name of the game in skins. There's no reason the 20-year-old should be priced higher than Thompson, so we'll take the value here.

The twist to The Match IX is that the LPGA players will tee off from the same area as the PGA Tour stars on the four par 3s. The par-3 fifth hole is listed on the scorecard as a 260-yard hole, which is likely a 3-wood or driving iron for McIlroy and Homa and possibly a driver for Zhang and Thompson. 

Erik Van Rooyen led the PGA Tour last season in proximity from 250-275 yards, and his approach shots averaged nearly 50 feet away from the hole. Anything within five feet from that far away would be a remarkable shot, so we're going to play against that at a fair price.
