Tyrese Haliburton Mocks Patrick Beverley Using A Damian Lillard Quote From 2023

Beverley had taken a shot at Haliburton after Game 5, claiming that his getting 10 assists wasn't all that special as he had the ball for 41 minutes. You knew the Pacers star was going to fire back if the series went his way, which is what happened.

As for the inspiration behind this post, it is what Beverley's current teammate Damian Lillard had stated back in January 2023 after a game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Los Angeles Lakers. There had been some tense exchanges between the two in the game and Lillard took offense to some comments Beverley made afterward. 

In case you don't know the context here, Flip is a character in the movie, "Above The Rim," who is described as "a homeless crackhead who played basketball in high school." Flip wasn't great at basketball but talked a lot, which is basically what Lillard thought of Beverley.

These two had their fair share of clashes over the years and there certainly wasn't a lot of love there. Then, earlier this year, Beverley got traded to the Bucks by the Philadelphia 76ers and became a teammate of Lillard's.

Some wondered how things might pan out, but Beverley and Lillard buried the hatchet after the trade. This was actually the second time that he had mended fences with a star point guard. Beverley and Russell Westbrook clashed for years, but are now on good terms after their time together on the Lakers.

Considering this theme that has developed, maybe we'll see Beverley, who had 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 5 assists in Game 6, on the Pacers with Haliburton next season, as he is a free agent. His defense certainly would come in handy to an Indiana side that struggles on that end of the floor.

Tyrese Haliburton Revealed What Patrick Beverley Told Him At The End Of The Game

Beverley was spotted heading to the Pacers bench at one point, to talk to Haliburton and Myles Turner. The Pacers guard was asked about that interaction and hilariously revealed what the 35-year-old had to say.

"He said, 'Good series. Belt to a**.'"

That was some nice sportsmanship from Beverley. He also sent that message on X after the game.

It was certainly an interesting series, as there was some tension in the air. It all stemmed from that infamous incident in the regular season, where Giannis Antetokounmpo was fuming after he believed the Pacers had taken the game ball following his record-breaking 64-point outing.

It is a shame that Antetokounmpo wasn't able to play at all in this series. He strained his left calf back on April 9 and has been out of action since. Lillard also missed a couple of games due to injury and the Bucks just weren't able to keep up with the Pacers considering the circumstances.

Haliburton had also been dealing with some injury issues but managed to play every game. In this closeout Game 6, the two-time All-Star recorded 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists. This victory has now set up a clash with the New York Knicks and the Pacers will need their two-time All-Star to be at his best if they are to advance.
