Cooper Rush Joined An Exclusive Club With Latest Win
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys are on a roll after winning four straight games.

What a way to bounce back from their season-opening loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the game wherein Dak Prescott got injured.

With their starting quarterback sidelined with a thumb injury, Cooper Rush has filled in and played error-free football.

While his numbers are not eye-popping, he is doing enough to keep the Cowboys winning.

That’s why he is yet to lose after his first five starts.

StatMuse tweeted, “Cooper Rush is 5-0 as a starter. Only the 14th QB ever to win his first 5 career starts.”

Rush had his first start for the Cowboys against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 8 of the 2021 season.

He finished that game with 24 completions out of 40 attempts for 325 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception.

Meanwhile, he is yet to lose as a starter in 2022.

In Week 2, the former Central Michigan standout had 19 completions for 235 yards and a touchdown against the Cincinnati Bengals.

A week later, Rush finished with 21 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown versus the division rival New York Giants.

He followed that up with a 223-yard, two-touchdown performance against the Washington Commanders.

Rush had 10 completions for 102 yards in their Week 5 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.

However, his winning run may come to a halt once Prescott is cleared to play.

A Glimpse Of Rush’s NFL Journey

The Cowboys signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2017.

He stayed with the squad for the better part of three seasons before being claimed by the Giants off waivers.

That reunion with former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was short-lived after the team released him from the practice squad to make way for Clayton Thorson.

Last year, he beat out Ben DiNucci and Garrett Gilbert for the backup role.
